Anne is a distinguished leader in international development. Her career includes roles in both Canadian and international organizations, such as the United Nations Development Program.

As the former Director of the “Act Together for Inclusion” Fund and coordinator of the Comité québécois femmes et développement at the Association québécoise des organismes de coopération internationale, she has established herself as a thought leader in women’s rights, gender equality, and inclusion.

Currently, Anne serves as the Executive Director of Humanity & Inclusion Canada, a Nobel Prize-winning organization that operates in 60 countries, advancing humanitarian and development programs that prioritize the inclusion of persons with disabilities and the most vulnerable. Based in Montreal, she has also contributed her expertise to various community organizations, including serving on the board of Santropol Roulant.

“Serving on the Community Foundations of Canada | Fondations communautaires du Canada board, a network of foundations whose impact stretches across Canada, from local roots to national reach, is both grounding and energizing.

I recently received a beautiful book from the team at CFC, “Lessons in Philanthropy: Legacy of Barb McInnes”, and I’ve been deeply moved by the wisdom it gathers. Barb is remembered as a connector, builder, and champion – someone who understood how transformative relationships are to strong communities.

One passage that particularly resonated with me: The trust we build, the conversations it sparks, and the steady work of bringing people together, forging relationships with community as well as cross sector partnerships, sits at the very centre of meaningful philanthropy.

Reading reflections from such a diverse cross‑section of sector leaders is a powerful reminder of how collective action, sustained commitment, and genuine connection drive lasting change.

A heartfelt thank you to the contributors whose voices help carry Barb’s legacy forward: Ian Bird, Andrea Dicks, Jess TomlinAndrew Chunilall, CPA, CA, ICD.DGlenn McInnesManjit BasiRoger GreenbergYasir Naqvi 🇨🇦Sarah Arden, Russ Mill, Richard Mulcaster…along with so many others whose insights enrich this collection.

Here’s to working together to ensure a future where everyone truly belongs.
